NEAT (National English Ability Test)

I’ve heard about it since my younger sister was a high school student. She is a university student now. When my sister heard it, she said that “The middle school students who have to take this test for entering universities should prepare many things. They and their parents might be busy from now.” I agree with her. If the students take the test for entering universities, they must prepare not only reading and listening skills, but also speaking and writing skills. There will be many things to prepare the test. It also might lead to people put money at private academy systems to improve students’ English skills. In Korea, a wave of private education systems is huge. Especially, Almost Koran parents have been interested in improving their children’s English ability since their children was born into the world. So, while the children are growing up, the parents push them studying hard. I think that why Korean parents push them to study hard is that it was hard to enter the university and receive an education at my parents’ generation. At that time, it was difficult to keep studying or enter universities because people were busy to make money and develop our country’s industries. These days, however, our level of living is higher than parents’ generation. So, they can give various opportunities. Also, people believe that entering good university is the one of easy ways to succeed in their life. That’s why people try to get high score and enter good university. The government said that the public school teachers only can teach NEAT with right ways. I think it shows that how much the government don’t know and understand our education system. The government should offer specific and diverse plans before it starts.

Auditon Boon In Korea

Sometimes, I watch a audition program which is called ‘Superstar K3.’ When I watch it last Friday, there were 7 participants who have to compete with each other for getting the first prize. The only one of them will be a winner in this program. This program will give a winner to 1 hundred million won a chance to his or her own first music album with popular producers and a ticket to travel in Australia. Even though the participant can’t be a winner, he or she can be famous and a singer after finishing this program or omitted from there.

This program is very famous in Korea. As the presenters said that there are many competition audition programs and it is more famous than other television programs these days. I think that the reasons why people love to participate in this kind of audition programs and watch them are that the participants are not special people and they have actual stories about their personal life then they become a popular person through these programs. The viewer can know their personal stories and sympathize with them. Also, people can join the competition without restriction. It is one of the reasons why people love them.

Some reviewers, however, worry about this syndrome. Some of the participants are too young to compete with others and be evaluated by others. Although there are many criticisms, the rate of view is increasing more than other programs.

I think that these programs directors should consider that not only the rate of view but also their influence on Korean society through the programs.

High Unemployment Rate among College graduate Students in Korea.

These days, many people can’t fine their job. Especially, many college graduate students are seeking their jobs. So, the rate of unemployment is increasing and it is serious issue. I wondered what the unemployment rate is. The unemployment rate is that unemploy workers divide by total labor force and then multiply by 100%.

    Then, I could think about the reasons. There are some reasons why the students can’t get a job.

The First one is that they have a high expectation and preference for large company.  Many students think that if they start work at small or unknown company, they will get low salary or can’t be offered high education of works. Also, they think that when they who are from a small company move to the other company, they will get disadvantage compared with someone who is from a big company. Because people tend to think that someone who enters a big company has many good abilities and learns high quality education from there.

The Second one is that there are too many highly educated young job seekers.  A few years ago, there were not many people who graduate from college in Korea. Nowadays, however, many people enter a university and graduate. So, it is a one of standards to get a job.

   Next, I think about ‘the unmployment rate causes the late matrriage leading to low birth rate.’ It was a thing which was talked in our class. I think people don’t want to marry or have a baby before they feel that they are afford to care them. Getting a job and getting high salary are important factors to marry or have a baby.

   Finally, I think about the solutions.  The government and big company should consider about supporting and imroving of working environment in small sized businesses. And the students should think about entering a small company and fining the various ways to get a job or show in the different ways by themselves.

Internet Privacy VS. Freedom of speech!

           The presenters offered us about internet privacy and freedom of speech. We argued that and there were many opinions. Thesedays, there are many oppertunites to share our opinions such as Twitter, Facebook and Cyworld etc. It's easy to upload through smart phones we are use everyday. We already  can say what we want at our own online place. So, many people care about privacy and freedom of speech.

          I think that our privacy has right to protect from others. But, we also have right to speek our opinions to the public through the internet. As we talked, many people think that their privacy must be protected and is important more than freemdom of speech. I think people tend to feel that their speech or comments don't hurt others but if they find the comments which are bad or don't make sense, they feel that they are hurt from it and think that my privacy is hurt . I think the most important thing is our attitude when we say or write at the internet. Sometimes, we can see some comments which hurt others without exact reasons. They just do it for their fun. They usually are children or teenagers.  The problem is that they don't know it is bad. They should learn about the attitude when they are in on-line place before they became a adult.

   Many people don't know or care  that  the more we want to protect our privacy, the more freedom of speech are interrupted.  And we should remember that internet privacy and freedom of speech are interactive relationship.
